Step #1: Set A Goal- Define your Success

What is success? If you are reading this, you probably are interested in being successful, but what is success? Success can be something different for every individual. For some it is defined by a certain amount of financial worth, for others it may be winning a competition, for others it may be raising a family and just feeling content. It is up to you to decide what defines success for yourself. Regardless of how you define your personal success, the important thing is to at least have a general idea of where you to be in the future. To achieve this idea will be your personal success.

A helpful exercise for setting goals is to get a notebook and set out a series of incremental goals in the form of a life plan. For your life plan you should write down where you want to be in 5, 10 and 20 years from now. Write down where you want to be in life at each increment Don’t be afraid to dream big. If it means having a certain amount of money, put it down. If you want to get educated, put it down. Don’t be afraid to put down multiple goals for each increment. Life has a way of giving to you what you ask of it. But you must ask.

If you never set your sights on a goal, you will never attain it. Once you have at least a general idea of where you want to be in life, you are able to plan out your journey to that goal.

Don’t let yourself be intimidated by how far away your goal may seem to be. A journey of a thousand miles begins with just a single step. If your goal seems too much to handle all at once, break in up into smaller steps, each of which is more easily attained and less intimidating. After each step you are closer to your goal and with perseverance each step in your plan will continue bring you closer to your goal.

A ship without a rudder is just a bit of driftwood, a slave to the wind and current.
A person without a plan or without purpose is very much similar to that rudderless, sailless vessel.

A good plan is vital to getting things done effectively.

Once you have an idea of where you want to be and how to get there, you need to take action.
Step #2

“It isn’t always about having a winning strategy and sticking to it; it’s about knowing multiple strategies and knowing which one to use in any given situation.”
